Rats!

We dropped of the green car this morning at the shop to get checked out. Alex was sad to leave it there, because she will miss it so much while it's getting fixed, but she'll be ok. We walked home- actually, I walked home and Alex and Nicholas rode in their stroller.

About an hour later, we got a call from the shop guy. Rats. Rats were/are living in my car's engine. Ewww! Yuck! Gross! They have done something to the speedometer, and it needs to be replaced. The speedometer maybe the only thing broken, and if it is, it'll get fixed this afternoon or tomorrow (we're. If that doesn't fix the problem, the speed harness (or something that sounded like that) will need to be replaced. I hope it's just the speedometer.

Either way, the rats have been given an eviction notice. They can move out of my car and our carport or they can die. Their choice completely. There will be no negotiations nor any second chances. One box of D-Con is already in place, and will be joined by more as soon as we can get to the store.

Yuck.

Update

The rats may or may not have had anything to do with the speedometer breaking. They have, however, made a mess in the engine and we will still insist that they vacate the premises or die. I hope they did not get to the point of eating insulation off of wires in the engine. That would be bad. We won't find out until tomorrow.
